A Bench to Watch From

There’s a bench shaded by redwoods next to the tennis courts in the park. In July I saw bright pink flowers blooming next to that bench, but now summer is fading and those flowers are gone.

Picnic Shade

The picnic tables in this painting are off in the distance, as are the people. Maybe it reflects the introvert in me, who’d rather watch people from a distance.

On weekdays at the park you can usually see nannies with toddlers and baby carriages, in shady spots where they’ve spread out a blanket to picnic for a few hours.

Into Color

Lattice roof makes shade over columns of Scout Hut storage building in the park. It faces the creek and benches made of tree trunks, often a staging area for volunteer work crews and solo joggers.
